Re-registration as social worker (+ 5 years)

This section is intended for persons who were previously members of the Order as a social worker but have been absent from the Membership Roll of the Order for more than 5 years. If you have been absent for less than 5 years, please refer to this section instead.

These requests are studied pursuant to the Regulation respecting refresher training periods for social workers (C-26, r. 296).

Refresher training periods are not imposed automatically. The record review conducted after all documents and payments have been received allows the Order to evaluate the candidate’s file.

We suggest that your become familiar with the Application du Règlement sur les stages de perfectionnement [Application of the Regulation respecting refresher training] to obtain more detailed information on this subject.

Processing time for an application for re-registration

If the Order does not impose refresher training, it would take about 3 to 4 weeks for re-registration on the Membership Roll of the Order from the time the file is complete.  For this, refer to the list of documents and payments required that appears here.  If elements are found to be missing when the application is reviewed, you will receive an email explaining the status of your file.

If the Order does recommend refresher training, it would take about 2 months to process the file starting from when it is complete.  In this case, such applications are submitted to the Executive Committee of the Order, which meets about 4 times per year.

Once your re-registration is completed, the Admissions Service will send you:

  • A letter confirming your re-registration on the Membership Roll of the Order
  • Your membership card and income tax receipts (expect an additional wait for obtaining these documents)
  • Documentation on insurance available

If you wish to receive a new permit to display in public view, please request one from Ms. Soraya Aksouh (whose contact information appears on the bottom of this page).

Period for preservation of incomplete applications

An incomplete file is destroyed one year after the date you were informed that your application was incomplete.

You will have to start a new re-admission procedure, including the payment of the file opening fees and, if applicable, the file review fees.
